My Experience With My KitchenAid Stand Mixer

I mentioned in my last post that I used my KitchenAid to make all of my cookies and it got me thinking about all the times I’ve actually used it. And then I started thinking about HOW long I’ve had him, and how much work he has done for me. I’ve had my KitchenAid mixer for over 15 years now! Holy Patoots! It’s a teenager! It’s got it’s learners license and will soon have the states permission to drive WITHOUT adult supervision. Ahhhhhhhh!

But really. It’s been my Mr. Dependable. It’s funny the things we take for granted, simply because we forget what it was like before we had a particular machine or gadget that helped us do (or did all of) the work. That same train of thought rushed over me today as I did laundry..ehhh hemmm..I mean, as the “machines” did my laundry and I…did other important things.

So let’s get into the nitty gritty of this beautiful machine called the KitchenAid.

My KitchenAid is Onyx black and I looove it. What is super cool about the above model is that it is available in a billion different colors (well, almost…more like 45 different options?). I was actually given this beauty after I started a cake business while living overseas. It’s been there through all the trials and tribulations of testing. It’s little paddle has been swiped with fingers eager to get the cake batter off as well as tongues (when no one was looking of course). And to this day, it just hums along happily while I put it through more dough obstacle courses.

What Makes KitchenAid stand(hahahaha) out?

This little daddy has a 325 watt motor and is made from aluminum and die cast metal that gives it the sturdiness and durability that it’s well known for. It has a 10 speed setting and even a “stir” which is probably the feature I use the most when mixing in the flour for my dough. There are 15 different options as far as attachments that you can purchase separately that fit easily into the power hub located on the top of the machine. Things like a pasta roller outter, meat grinder attachment, spiralizer. It’s crazy what you can do with this one machine.

What are some of it’s kick cookie butt features?kitchenaid dough lilchefchic

This particular model has a paddle attachment (my favorite because of it’s ability to stir pretty much anything), a dough hook for your kneading needs, a wire whisk for things like meringues and such, and a pouring shield (so said flour doesn’t go poof! all over your kitchen). The stainless steel bowl has a convenient handle that makes it a cinch to pop into place on the base of the unit. And the bowl is large enough to accommodate 9 dozen cookies in one batch!

Why buy this mixer?

Buy this mixer if you never want to buy another mixer in your LIFE. Yes, it’s that good. I’ve had hand mixer motors burn up while whipping up a small batch of buttercream. The KitchenAid laughs in the face of buttercream! It conquers bread doughs like no other and I look forward to another 15 years with this mixer by my side. Besides, just give it a looksie on Amazon! It has 4.6 out of 5 stars and this model is “Amazons choice for Kitchenaid mixers.”

  • We have a KitchenAid and love it. We bought it mostly for my husband. He loves making pancakes and waffles from scratch… at least he did. It took me a while to warm up to the machine. I so much would rather sit back and let my husband cook and bake for me. ๐Ÿ™‚ Eventually, I did cautiously approach it and manage to ring a few cakes for it. What I love best about it is the quality feel. It’s heavy, which makes me feel like it’s well built. Plus it’s stainless steel, which I love.

Ours isn’t as old as yours though. We haven’t had ours for 5 years yet, but we’ll get there.

    • lol. I’m glad he got you using it too. Isn’t it funny how we are with machines. You sound like me using my first laptop. I was like, “Is this thing gonna break? Am I gonna break it?!” Just dive in! The water’s great! Thanks for the comment:) Five years in and like 50 to more to go. lol

  • I can’t believe you’ve had your KitchenAid for over 15 years! Sounds like you’ve gotten some good mileage out of that thing….

I don’t really like shopping for household items unless I absolutely have to (typical bachelor, I know), so I like to buy things once and ride it out for the rest of it’s life. Once I can afford my own house (I’m still a student), I’ll definitely grab one of these. It sounds like it’s well worth the money.

    • “Typical Bachelor” lol. I hear ya Bill. I definitely think the house should come first..and then the mixer.hahaha Thank you for leaving a comment and YES! TOOOTALLY worth the green:)

  • KitchenAid is a pretty respectable brand that I have used over the years. I do have a KitchenAid griddle, blender, etc. 15 years is pretty impressive for a mixer, though!

I do have a question for you. My girlfriend is interested in getting one. Well, itโ€™s for Christmas. Do you happen to know the warranty on this product?

    • Hey Garen!
Nice! She’ll love you forever:) KitchenAid actually offers a 1 year full warranty from the date of purchase for new stand mixers. They’re customer service satisfaction number is 1-800-541-6390. Thanks for the comment and question. I hope she loves her gift-she will:)

  • Hey Jennifer,
I have one too for just over a year. It’s a girl…she’s aqua. Comments have been she elevates kitchen to a model home!? In any event, she’s been a life saver. All your observations regarding your guy are true…a joy to use. Enjoyed catching up with your recipes. Wishing you continued success in the new year…happy cooking and inspiration.

    • Mine’s a guy, your’s is a girl. lol. Thank you so much for the comment Sandra. They really are more than a helping hand in the kitchen-they do the majority of the work and really make baking enjoyable. Happy New Year to you as well and please come back here whenever you can:)

  • You know Jennifer this sounds like a really good mixer and I think I will purchase one when I buy another mixer. 10 speeds wow what would I do with all them I’m used to low, medium, and high. The Kitchenaid brand has been around a long time and means quality so I wouldn’t be bothered buying one of these mixers.

    • Thanks Fred! I’ve had mine forever and adore it! It’s the most dependable thing in my kitchen!:)
